Recycling for Cleaner Air: Benton County’s Initiative
In a bid to promote cleaner air and healthier living environments, Benton County residents now have an opportunity to upgrade their old solid fuel burning devices with the help of funding from the Benton Clean Air Agency (BCAA). If you qualify, you could receive assistance for replacing up to two older stoves per residence.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Uncertified Woodstove: Your woodstove must not comply with the 2020 New Source Performance standards.
- Residency Requirement: You must reside within Benton County and pay taxes there.
- Device Condition: The device must be in working order and capable of being installed/uninstalled for the reward. Indoor barrel stoves and trash burners are not eligible.
How to Participate:
- Document Your Device: Take a clear photo of the old device in its place of use.
- Complete the Form: Download and complete the form available on the BCAA website. You can find it under Services.
- Submission: Return the completed form to BCAA via email at or by mail to BCAA, Attn: Recycle Program, 526 S. Steptoe St, Kennewick.
- Notification: Await notification of acceptance or denial into the Recycle Award Program.
- Recycle Your Device: If accepted, proceed to recycle the device. Take another photo at the metal recycler with the door removed and have the recycler complete the destruction form.
- Submission of Documentation: Return the completed form along with the required attachments:
- Two photos of the old device (in its original place of use and at the metal recycler with the door removed)
- Signed copy of the Certificate of Destruction
- Completed IRS W-9 form
