BENTON CLEAN AIR AGENCY RECEIVED A SEPA APPLICATION FROM GT MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIES TO INSTALL AN ELECTRON BEAM STERILIZER AT THEIR EXISTING FACILITY AT 350 HILLS ST. RICHLAND, WA 99354.

GT Medical Technologies is proposing to add a self-shielded one (1) MeV electron-beam sterilizer into its existing facility. The byproduct from this addition is ozone created the interaction of the electron beam and air. The ozone will be filtered and controlled by filter through an ozone destructor prior to being exhausted into the environment. This project triggers a review of the proposal by Benton Clean Air Agency (BCAA) pursuant to Washington Administrative Code (WAC) 173-400-110. As such, an Order of Approval from the BCAA is required. The final Order will contain conditions under which the facility must operate to be in compliance with the local, state, and federal clean air regulations.

The lead agency for this proposal has determined that it does not have a probable significant adverse impact on the environment. An environmental impact statement (EIS) is not required under RCW 43.21C.030(2)(c). This decision was made after review of a completed environmental checklist and other information on file with the lead agency. This information is available to the public on request. This DNS is issued under 197-11-340(2); the lead agency will not act on this proposal for 15 days from June 30, 2026. Comments must be submitted by July 17, 2026.
